The Office of Academic and Career Services oversees the updates and assignments of advisors for the following Colleges (excluding online students):

  • Academic Affairs- Undeclared/Exploratory, General Studies, Non-Degree & Pre-Professional
  • College of Business and Technology
  • College of Health Sciences
  • College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences
  • College of Health Sciences

Departmental Assignment Guidelines

Departmental rules/guideline for assigning advisors by program, minor, or certificate reside in a Google document and the only individuals with access to this document are the Department Chair and Administrative Assistant. This is a view only document and maintained by the Office of Academic and Career Services.

View or Update Departmental Advisor Assignment Rules

To access your departmental rules or to request an update to your departmental rules access the Departmental Update Form. Once you select College and Department a link to your departmental rules will appear and link you to the Google Document. If you would like to request access to the document, please email Tiffany Hampton.

Assignment Errors

If you would just like to request an update to one student or a group of 10 or fewer students due to errors or recent major changes you can submit that here: Student Assignment Update

Restructure of Departmental Rules/Departmental Review

If your department needs to restructure advisor assignments on a large scale or if you have questions about the process and feel like it would be best handled one-on-one, please schedule an appointment with Tiffany Hampton tiffany.hampton@eku.edu

Retired/Sabbatical/Discontinue of Advisor Assignments

If a faculty member has recently retired or left the Faculty Advisor role and will no longer be assigned to students, contact Tiffany Hampton to make a mass update to all students currently assigned to this faculty member to ensure that students are appropriately assigned. or make appropriate adjustments on the Departmental Update Form and include a note indicating that the current assignments for the faculty member should be reassigned and who they should be assigned to.

Process for adding a new Faculty Advisor

In order to add a new faculty member as an advisor for a program, the department must do the following:

  1.  Contact the Dean's Office to updated the faculty banner record to reflect Faculty Advisor
  2. Contact reg.dgw@eku.edu for Degree Works Training
  3. Access the Departmental Update Form to indicate program and population of students the new advisor should be assigned to.

Process for Advisor Assignments

An advisor ssignment is made under two circumstance: A student is newly admitted to EKU and needs an advisor assignment OR a student has changed/added a major/minor/certificate/concentration. The processing timelines for both circumstances are outlined below:

Process for adding a new Faculty Advisor

In order to add a new faculty member as an advisor for a program, the department must do the following:
